About Sifterra · Midland, TX

We’re a small shop that reads spreadsheets for a living. It adds up.

Sifterra is a data & analytics practice on the east side of Midland. We take the numbers a business already keeps and make them legible enough to act on — no new department, no dashboard nobody opens.

Trusted by field-service crews, regional retailers, and fleet teams across the Permian Basin.

How it started

A ledger, a hunch, and a truck that shouldn’t have rolled.

The short version of why a data shop exists in the middle of the oil patch.

Sifterra began the way most useful things do — with somebody staring at a report that raised more questions than it answered. A dispatcher we knew had spent a whole Tuesday rolling a crew to a site the numbers already said was fine, because the numbers were buried in a spreadsheet nobody had opened since March.

That was the whole thesis, really. West Texas operators are not short on data. They’re short on time to read it, and short on someone who will build the plumbing so the reading happens on its own. So we set up on Estes Ave and started doing exactly that: pipelines that refresh overnight, one screen an ops lead will actually open, and a model only when a prediction changes what somebody would do.

We’d rather remove a subscription than add one, and rather hand you the source than keep you on a retainer.

We stayed deliberately small. Every engagement is scoped, built, and handed over documented — the code, the notes, and the reasoning for each choice. If you want us on call afterward, that’s a separate conversation, never a quiet default. The practice hasn’t changed much since that first dispatcher’s Tuesday. It still comes down to making the numbers you already keep say something out loud.

What we hold to

Four things we don’t bend on.

01

Plain beats clever

A dashboard that answers the two questions your ops lead was going to ask anyway beats a beautiful one they never open. We optimise for the number being read, not admired.

02

You own the work

At handover you get the code, the documentation, and the thinking behind each decision — not a black box with a monthly fee attached. If a model won’t earn its keep, we say so before you spend anything.

03

Your data stays yours

We build inside your environment, under your accounts, working within your permissions rather than making copies we’d then have to guard. Less surface area, fewer things that can go wrong.

04

Honest before eager

If the first call tells us there isn’t a project here worth doing, that’s what we’ll tell you. We’d rather turn down the work than sell you a dashboard that catches nothing.

How the practice runs

Two ears, one desk, no hand-offs.

The person who scopes your project is the person who builds it and the person who sits across from you at handover. Nothing gets passed to an account team you’ve never met. That’s the trade-off of staying small — fewer projects at once, but the same eyes on your numbers from the first call to the last commit.

We work out of an office on the east side of town and keep steady hours, so a question on Wednesday doesn’t wait until next quarter.
